The French band, which blends cumbia, rock and garage, has dropped the first single from its new project, “Es El Amor.”
The French band Cannibale owes its name to “a kind of Reunionnaise garage,” where the tropical wetness of the groove overrides the clichés of what a Born Bad release should be. The name is therefore a reference to the Caribbean rhythms that we sometimes hear in the group’s sound, as well as the psychedelic tropical music that the five members are known for. Following the highly acclaimed Not Easy to Cook, released in 2018, Cannibale is back with a brand new project, Life is Dead, due out on November 12.
On this new project, the band further explores its garage-bancal-tropical, rock-cumbia vein. Imposing an ever-more intense relationship with the body, the thirteen tracks have been composed in total experimentation, while retaining the credo of consistent danceability. Fabrice Gilbert, singer of post-punk band Frustrations, is the Album’s only featured artist, appearing on “Kings of the Attics.” Discover the single “Es El Amor,” a swaying cumbia soundscape that signals the coming heat of Life is Dead.
Life is Dead by Cannibale, out on November 12 via Born Bad Records.
